Southern Style Cheeseburger Pie
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (or half beef + half pork for richer flavor)
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 tsp garlic powder
½ tsp seasoned salt (or regular salt + a pinch of Cajun seasoning)
½ tsp black pepper
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (sharp works best)
1 cup shredded mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese
¾ cup milk
½ cup Bisquick mix (or any baking mix)
2 large eggs
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Optional: ¼ cup diced pickles or jalapeños for a Southern twist
Optional topping: crispy bacon bits, ketchup drizzle, or barbecue sauce
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch pie plate.
Brown the meat:
In a skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium heat until beef is no longer pink.
Drain excess fat.
Stir in garlic powder, seasoned salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
Layer the filling:
Spread the meat mixture evenly in the prepared pie plate.
Sprinkle both cheeses over the top.
Make the crust mixture:
In a small bowl, whisk together milk, Bisquick, and eggs until smooth.
Pour this mixture evenly over the beef and cheese.
Bake:
Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, until the top is golden brown and set in the center.
Let it rest 5–10 minutes before slicing.
