... Read moreOkay, so let me tell you, I was a total skeptic. For ages, I'd seen those massage chairs tucked away at Planet Fitness, usually empty or with someone just chilling on their phone. My internal 'POV: you start using the massage chairs at Planet Fitness....' moment finally arrived last week, and oh. my. goodness. What have I been missing all this time?! After a particularly grueling leg day, my muscles were practically screaming. I spotted the HydroMassage bed, and then the traditional massage chairs, and thought, 'Why not? My Black Card membership covers it!' I decided to start with a classic massage chair. You know, the big, comfy ones that look like they could swallow you whole. Sitting down, I fumbled a bit with the remote. There are so many settings! Different modes for your back, shoulders, glutes, and even your calves. I chose a full-body relaxation program, leaned back, and let the magic happen. The rollers started gently kneading my lower back, then slowly moved upwards, targeting all those knots I didn't even realize I had. It was like a mini spa retreat right there in the gym. I could feel the tension melting away with each passing minute. Seriously, it was the perfect end to my workout – not just for my body, but for my mind too. It completely switched me from 'workout mode' to 'chill mode.' Then, curiosity got the better of me, and I tried the HydroMassage bed. This is a whole different beast! You lie down fully clothed, and warm jets of water massage you from underneath a waterproof barrier. It felt incredible – like floating on a cloud while simultaneously getting a deep tissue massage. The best part? No oily residue, no need to undress. Just pure, unadulterated relaxation. You can even adjust the pressure and target specific areas. I focused on my hamstrings and glutes, which were definitely feeling the burn from my squats. For anyone wondering how to get a truly 'mstriggahappy massage' experience at Planet Fitness, here are my top tips: Go Post-Workout: This is when your muscles need it most. It helps with recovery and eases soreness. Explore Both Options: Don't just stick to one! Try the traditional massage chairs for targeted kneading and the HydroMassage bed for a full-body, water-based relaxation. Experiment with Settings: Don't be shy with the remote. Play around with different programs, intensities, and focus areas to find what feels best for you. Hydrate Beforehand: Just like with any massage, being well-hydrated helps your muscles respond better. Make it a Routine: If you have a Black Card, take advantage of it! A 10-15 minute session a few times a week can make a huge difference in your overall well-being. It's a fantastic way to de-stress and treat yourself. Bring Headphones: This helps you really get into your zone and block out any gym noise. Put on some calming music or a podcast. Honestly, integrating these massage chairs into my routine has been a game-changer. I leave the gym feeling refreshed, relaxed, and ready to tackle the rest of my day, instead of just drained. It’s not just about physical recovery; it’s a wonderful mental break too. Who knew a gym membership could come with such an amazing perk? If you haven't tried them yet, you absolutely should. Prepare for pure bliss!
