HBCU Queen

Becoming an HBCU Queen is truly an honor that goes far beyond just wearing a crown. When I decided to run for queen at my beloved West Virginia University, I knew it would be a significant undertaking, but nothing quite prepared me for the incredible journey that unfolded. My campaign truly began with understanding what it meant to serve my fellow students and the university. I spent countless hours developing proposals for student welfare, academic support initiatives, and community outreach programs. Every flyer designed, every speech delivered, and every handshake exchanged was a step towards building a connection and demonstrating my commitment. The late nights strategizing with my campaign team, organizing events, and engaging in lively debates were challenging, but incredibly rewarding. It taught me invaluable lessons in leadership, resilience, and the power of collective effort. The role of an "HBCU queen" extends far beyond the campaign trail. Walking across that stage, surrounded by my peers, faculty, and family, was a moment of immense pride and gratitude. It solidified my commitment to uphold the legacy of those who came before me and to pave the way for future leaders. My journey as an HBCU Queen has been one of profound personal growth. It has challenged me to step outside my comfort zone, to speak up for what I believe in, and to embrace the responsibilities that come with leadership.
