Experiencing Jakarta MRT

The slow moving traffic in Jakarta is a complete turn off & thus, I'm trying out the Jakarta MRT.

The MRT is spacious & clean. Of course I'm a traveler so I'm not going to fight with the peak crowd. There's maps & panel display in the mrt to show you which stop is next.

No store value card & only equipped with credit card, no problem. There's a dedicated panel machine where service staff at the counter will help you.

The ticket has 2 QR codes on it, 1 for entry & 1 for exit. The station names are also displayed. For 7 stations, I paid Rp9000. When I googled, it was said to be Rp7000.. well I guess, a little extra as admin fees & staff are really polite.

Now that I'm comfortable with the MRT, will I travel to Jakarta? Definitely! I can't wait to explore more of the city at leisure!

... Read moreIf you're new to Jakarta or planning to explore the city, understanding the MRT map can be a game changer. The MRT route covers key areas, making it easier to plan your trips without worrying about traffic jams. I found the station maps and panel displays very straightforward, showing every stop clearly, including the Lebak Bulus terminal which is a major hub. The ticketing system is user-friendly, relying on QR codes for entry and exit, which means you no longer need to worry about storing value cards. Plus, service staff at the ticket counters are very helpful if you face any issues with credit card payments. One tip for travelers is to familiarize yourself with the MRT map before you go—this saves time and helps you feel more confident navigating. You can easily find downloadable maps online or at each station. Planning your route around the MRT will let you explore more of Jakarta stress-free, whether it's for work, sightseeing, or shopping. Overall, taking the MRT enhanced my Jakarta visit. It’s a fast, clean, and affordable option compared to dealing with the city’s notorious slow traffic. I recommend giving it a try to truly enjoy your time in this bustling metropolis.
