Postpartum Rage

Postpartum rage can look like an overreaction. But sometimes it isn’t about the moment that finally made you snap.

It’s the exhaustion.

The overstimulation.

The hormonal shifts.

The invisible labor.

The resentment that never had anywhere to go and sometimes the last straw is simply the thing that finally breaks the surface. 🔥 #postpartum #rage #motherhood #support #resentment

... Read morePostpartum rage is often misunderstood as just an overreaction to minor events, but as many mothers experience, it is much deeper than a single incident. From my own journey, I can say that postpartum rage feels like the overwhelming weight of exhaustion and constant demands building up until it finally bursts out in a way that feels uncontrollable. One of the hardest parts is how little society talks about the invisible labor new mothers carry—the endless mental, emotional, and physical tasks that go unnoticed. Sleep deprivation alone drastically reduces patience and tolerance, making small triggers like spilled milk or relentless crying feel insurmountable. Hormonal shifts also play a huge role. The dramatic changes in mood and stress regulation can make even the strongest person feel vulnerable. During this time, overstimulation from noise, touch, and interruptions creates continuous pressure, leaving no mental breather. Resentment can quietly grow from carrying too much without adequate support or time for self-care. This resentment, combined with depletion of time, nourishment, and connection leads to emotional outbursts that can feel like an explosion of everything pent up inside. What helped me the most was recognizing that these feelings are valid signals—not personal failings. Asking for help, setting boundaries, and prioritizing rest and nourishment are crucial steps. Finding a supportive community and professional guidance also provides space to heal and process these overwhelming emotions. For anyone experiencing postpartum rage, know that it is a cry for attention to your needs, a reminder that you don’t have to carry the load alone. Compassion, both from yourself and others, along with practical support, can transform this challenging phase into a journey of recovery and strength.
