Red Lotus (Red Water Lily) Science Name
Red lotus is a herbaceous aquatic plant with underground rhizomes. The leaves are oval to round, about 14-28 centimeters in size. The edges of the leaves are sharp, the bottom is often reddish-purple and densely hairy, and the top is sporadic. The petiole is about 1 meter long.
The flowers are large single flowers, blooming up to about 15 cm, the color ranges from dark pink, white to magenta, and the interior has a beautiful cascading of pollen.
The red cornice or cornice is one of the most common cornices in natural bodies of water, characteristically magnificent, and important to the wormwood marsh ecosystem.

บัวแดง หรือบัวสายสีแดง ที่เราพบเห็นในเขตห้ามล่าสัตว์ป่าบึงบอระเพ็ด นครสวรรค์นั้น มีบทบาทสำคัญต่อระบบนิเวศน้ำจืด เพราะนอกจากความสวยงามของดอกบัวแดงที่บานสะพรั่งกลางบึงในช่วงฤดูหนาวแล้ว บัวแดงยังช่วยป้องกันการกัดเซาะของดินและสร้างที่อยู่อาศัยสำหรับสัตว์น้ำและนกต่างๆด้วย จากประสบการณ์ส่วนตัวที่เคยไปเยือนบึงบอระเพ็ด ช่วงที่บัวแดงบานนั้น อากาศเย็นสบาย พร้อมแสงแดดอ่อนๆยามเช้า ทำให้ภาพของดอกบัวแดงสีชมพูแดงสดใสและใบบัวสีเขียวที่กว้างใหญ่ทอดตัวบนผิวน้ำ มีภูเขาและท้องฟ้าเป็นฉากหลังสวยงามจับใจอย่างยิ่ง หากใครสนใจจะเยี่ยมชมและถ่ายภาพบัวแดง ควรมาในช่วงฤดูหนาวที่เป็นฤดูบานของดอกบัว เช่น เดือนพฤศจิกายนถึงมกราคม เพราะบัวแดงจะออกดอกสวยและสดใสที่สุด ทั้งนี้เมื่อเดินชมควรระมัดระวังธรรมชาติและช่วยกันอนุรักษ์ความสมบูรณ์ของแหล่งน้ำและพันธุ์พืชน้ำเหล่านี้ด้วย นอกจากนี้ยังมีหัวบัวแดงที่อยู่ใต้ดินซึ่งเป็นแหล่งสะสมสารอาหารและสามารถนำมาใช้ประโยชน์ด้านสมุนไพรได้ หากใครสนใจศึกษาลึกลงไปเกี่ยวกับบัวแดงและความสำคัญในระบบนิเวศของแหล่งน้ำธรรมชาติแห่งนี้ แนะนำให้อ่านข้อมูลจากกรมอุทยานแห่งชาติฯ และกลุ่มงานพฤกษศาสตร์ป่าไม้เพื่อความรู้เพิ่มเติมด้วย
