December progress report: tired, dramatic and still trying 💀💪

2025/12/2 Edited to

... Read moreEvery December, many of us make ambitious resolutions to improve our fitness, organization, and emotional stability. However, as the month progresses, it’s common to feel tired, confused, or overwhelmed by the effort it takes to maintain these goals. The experience of doing cardio relentlessly, hoping it will fix everything, resonates with many who rely on physical exercise as a coping mechanism or a way to reclaim control over their wellbeing. This cycle of setting high expectations for the upcoming year and feeling drained by the end of the current one highlights the importance of balance and self-compassion. While cardio and physical activity can definitely boost mood and energy levels, they are not a cure-all for emotional or mental challenges. Recognizing this allows for a more holistic approach to self-care, integrating rest, mindfulness, and realistic goal-setting alongside fitness efforts. Moreover, December often brings a mix of emotional stress due to the year’s end reflections, holiday pressures, and personal life demands. It's normal to feel dramatic or emotionally unstable during this period. Acknowledging these feelings as valid parts of the human experience rather than failures can help build resilience. Moving forward, consider creating a plan that includes manageable steps toward fitness and organization, incorporates emotional check-ins, and acknowledges progress without harsh judgment. Start small and celebrate incremental wins instead of aiming for perfection immediately. This authentic, balanced mindset can lead to sustainable changes and a more positive outlook as the new year begins.
