Making buckeyes for the holidays 🧣⛄️
Do you bake or make homemade treats for the holidays? I wanted to do something fun that wasn’t super complex to get my boyfriend in the kitchen with me. He wanted to help make some treats for the holidays but since he hasn’t had a lot of practice with baking and cooking I wanted to do something that would be fun and low stress for both of us. We decided to make buckeyes. This was super fun and easy to do. They don’t have a ton of ingredients so the recipe is easy. If you want to make these on your own or with family it’s no bake so it’s even kid friendly to follow along. #asklemon8 #lemon8contest
👩🏾🍳Buckeyes Ingredients 🍫🍰
• 1 Cup Peanut Butter
• 1/2 Cup Unsalted Butter
• 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
• 2 Cups Melting chocolate
• 2 1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar
Detailed Steps: You will need to let your butter soften. After butter is softened add it, the vanilla extract, and peanut butter to a bowl and combine them until they are thoroughly mixed together. Then, you will add your powdered sugar into the mixture until it becomes a dough like consistency. Once it reaches that consistency you will need to roll the dough into balls and place them on a dish to chill in the freezer for 30 minutes. After they have chilled melt your chocolate and dip them halfway in the chocolate. When all the peanut butter balls have been dipped chill them for 10 more minutes in the freezer and place them in a container and store in the refrigerator.
Additional tips/notes: Use a pan/tray that is safe to put in the freezer. If you don’t chill them for long enough they will not be firm enough to dip. if you take too long to dip them they will begin to thaw out and the same thing will happen. I used a fork but it’s recommended to use a tooth pick to dip them. I also used “almond bark” for the dipping chocolate but you can use any kind of melting chocolate that you prefer and I used two blocks to make two cups of chocolate. If you don’t add enough powdered sugar the peanut butter will not get firm enough to form into balls. I hope this helps!
