ADHD Symptoms Hit Harder as an Adult

Has anyone else noticed their ADHD feel way worse as an adult than it did as a child? I had mild symptoms growing up — lots of mental hyperactivity, but I was well-behaved, performed well in school, and could push through things I didn’t like. Now, as an adult, it’s a whole different story. My focus on boring tasks has tanked, I fidget constantly, ruminate more, and reading even short paragraphs feels impossible. Impulsivity and risk-taking have increased, and simple organization feels like climbing a mountain.

It’s exhausting to feel like your brain is working against you after years of managing it “fine” as a kid. I’m trying strategies like structured routines, breaking tasks into tiny steps, and being intentional about self-care, but it’s still a lot.
