Are you eating fruit?

Putting your cleaned and cut fruit into these cute little jars is a fun way to get ur daily fruit intake.

... Read moreHey fruit lovers! I totally get how challenging it can be to make sure you're getting enough fruit every day, especially when life gets busy. For a long time, I just ate whatever fruit was handy, thinking all fruit was created equal. But then I started looking into it, and wow, there's so much more to learn about how different fruits can impact our bodies, depending on when and why we eat them. I’ve found that being strategic with my fruit choices has made a huge difference, not just for general well-being but also for specific needs like better sleep or boosting my energy. It’s not just about getting your daily intake; it’s about optimizing it! Fruits to Eat at Night for Better Sleep (and which to avoid!) When it comes to winding down, what you eat can seriously affect your sleep quality. I used to grab a juicy orange before bed, only to find myself tossing and turning. That's because some fruits, while healthy, might be too acidic or high in sugar, leading to indigestion or energy spikes. My personal go-to fruits for a relaxing evening are cherries (especially tart cherries, which are a natural source of melatonin!), bananas (packed with magnesium and potassium, muscle relaxants), and kiwi. I’ve noticed a real difference in how quickly I fall asleep and how refreshed I feel in the morning. On the flip side, I've learned to steer clear of anything too citrusy like oranges or grapefruits, and sometimes even watermelon, which can make you get up for bathroom breaks. High-sugar fruits like mangoes right before bed can also spike your blood sugar, which isn't ideal for sleep. Boosting Your Appetite with the Right Fruits Sometimes, especially after a workout or if I'm feeling a bit under the weather, my appetite isn't quite there. I found that certain fruits can actually stimulate hunger and get my digestive system going. Apples, for example, with their crisp texture and fiber, often make me feel ready for a proper meal. Berries, like strawberries and raspberries, are also fantastic – their tartness can be surprisingly appetite-inducing. And don't underestimate the power of a tangy citrus fruit like a small orange or a few slices of grapefruit; they can really awaken your palate. It's like a gentle nudge to my stomach to say, "Hey, it's mealtime!" Fruits That Are Amazing for Women's Health This is an area I'm particularly passionate about! As women, our bodies go through so much, and certain fruits can be incredibly supportive. Berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries) are antioxidant powerhouses, great for skin health and fighting inflammation. Avocados, though often seen as a vegetable, are technically a fruit and are fantastic for hormonal balance thanks to their healthy fats. Pomegranates are another gem, loaded with compounds that can support reproductive health. And of course, the ever-reliable citrus fruits provide a great boost of Vitamin C, essential for collagen production and immune health. I try to incorporate a variety of these into my diet, especially during different cycles of the month. To make all these smart fruit choices easier, I love using those cute little jars to prep my fruit. Cleaning and cutting everything ahead of time, then portioning it into small, grab-and-go containers, means I'm much more likely to make the healthy choice, even when I'm rushing. It’s such a simple trick, but it really works for keeping my daily fruit intake consistent and tailored to my needs!
