Another Procedure, Another Goodbye🪽💛
They said “fibroid,”
so I signed the papers
thinking this was just another surgery,
another ache to survive.
I didn’t know
you were there.
Didn’t know
the D&C wasn’t for pain alone,
but for a loss
my body somehow carried
without tubes,
without answers,
without reason.
And I still replay it,
wondering how something impossible
found me
just to leave me wondering why.
Going through surgeries like myomectomy and D&C can be mentally and physically overwhelming, especially when unexpected findings arise. In my own experience, I faced a similar situation where a routine procedure uncovered a biochemical pregnancy I hadn't known about, despite not having fallopian tubes. This can be confusing and emotionally challenging, as the body sometimes holds onto signs of pregnancy loss silently. Biochemical pregnancy refers to a very early pregnancy loss, where the pregnancy is detected by hormone levels but does not progress enough to be seen on an ultrasound. It’s more common than many realize and can occur without typical pregnancy symptoms. In cases of endometriosis or fibroids, these kinds of issues can complicate fertility and pregnancy outcomes. What helped me personally was comprehensive follow-up care—including additional imaging and ultrasounds—to fully understand what was happening and to receive proper support. Discussing these findings openly with healthcare providers can clarify uncertainties and guide necessary treatments or management strategies. Mental wellness is equally important; connecting with support groups or counseling can aid in processing grief related to pregnancy loss.
