Things I’d pack in my hospital bag!

There’s definitely some other things that I would pack but these are just a few that I found helpful!

1. Nipple butter- this was amazing! Freshly postpartum you’re going to be super sore and dry🥲

2. Labor comb- supposed to reduce the pain and slightly take your mind off things :)

3. Baby sleepers- this is amazing to have because it’s super easy to get on and off and the hospital is cold. Even the newborn gowns are great. 😇

4. Portable sound machine- need I say more… LIFESAVER

5. Portable charger- this or a long charger would be great because the outlets are usually so far from the bed.

6. Chapstick- like I said. You’re so dry after having that baby!! I NEEDED THIS!! 💄💋

7. Icepacks. Only a few needed, the hospital had them but just in case you need them before they can restock it’s nice to have them on hand!

8. Postpartum underwear- the hospital grade underwear kept falling off of me and made me really uncomfy and I felt like everything was going to fall out! This just keeps you nice and secure:) 🥰

9. Tucks- LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!

10. Peri bottle- they give you one at the hospital but it’s typically not curved. Having a curved one is so convenient.

Also they give you Dermoplast, so definitely take advantage and stock up!

... Read morePacking for the hospital can feel overwhelming, but having the right items really makes a difference, especially in those first days postpartum. From personal experience, nipple butter is a lifesaver—I found that applying it frequently helped soothe the intense soreness and dryness that comes with breastfeeding. Another underrated item is a labor comb. Using it distracted me during contractions and helped reduce tension in my scalp, offering a surprising bit of relief. Baby sleepers are an absolute essential. Hospitals tend to be chilly, and these sleepers are so easy to put on and take off, which is a huge help when you’re sleep-deprived and managing a newborn. I also couldn’t live without my portable sound machine. The familiar white noise helped block out hospital sounds and made it easier for both the baby and me to rest. Outlets are often inconveniently placed, so a portable charger or a long charger cable is crucial for keeping phones and devices powered. Chapstick is another small but vital item—labor and delivery can dry out your lips more than you expect! I found having ice packs handy very comforting, especially since sometimes the hospital might be out of stock temporarily. Postpartum underwear that fits well and feels secure can drastically improve comfort, especially compared to standard hospital underwear which can be loose and uncomfortable. Tucks pads with witch hazel were a game changer for soothing postpartum discomfort. Also, a curved peri bottle was much more convenient than the standard straight one given at the hospital, making hygiene easier. Don’t forget to take advantage of hospital-supplied items like Dermoplast spray as well—stocking up before discharge is a good idea. Overall, these items helped me feel more prepared and comfortable during those challenging early days after delivery. Packing thoughtfully not only eases physical discomfort but also boosts confidence during a vulnerable time.
