We’re almost full term with baby sister, so here are some things I brought with me to my first birth and that I’ll be bringing again to the hospital with baby #4 . 🤍🌈

Packing a hospital bag can feel overwhelming, but having the right essentials can make your labor and postpartum stay more comfortable and less stressful. Based on my own experience and what many moms recommend, a well-prepared bag includes items beyond just clothes. For labor, bringing a mini star projector or a playlist of worship music and scripture affirmations can create a calming environment. Don’t forget your earbuds and a long phone charger, plus a massage gun if you find that helpful for relaxation. Comfortable socks, slippers or shower shoes, and a fan can keep you cozy through long hours. Postpartum essentials are crucial—pack nursing bras, disposable nursing pads, silverette liners, nipple balm, and comfy underwear to support healing and breastfeeding. Multiple pajama sets and a labor and delivery gown keep you feeling fresh and comfortable. For baby, pack two swaddles, blankets, multiple onesies and pajamas, newborn socks, and going-home outfit. Little extras like pacifiers, a sound machine, and a nightlight not only help soothe your newborn but also assist during nighttime care. Bringing a Polaroid or other camera can preserve those precious first moments. I found that packing matching sister outfits to meet the new baby added a sweet personal touch. Also, don’t underestimate the importance of toiletries and a blanket and pillow for yourself, as hospital bedding isn’t always the most comfortable. These thoughtful items helped make my hospital experience smoother and more joyful. Sharing this checklist can hopefully ease prep stress for other moms-to-be, making their birthing journey a little easier and more special.
