* 1 cup granulated sugar

* 2 large eggs

* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

* 1/2 cup unsalted butter, browned

* 1/2 cup brown sugar

* 1/4 cup granulated sugar

* 1 large egg

* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

* 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

* 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

* 1/2 teaspoon salt

* 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Brownie Layer

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

2. Melt butter and whisk with sugar.

3. Add eggs and vanilla.

4. Mix in cocoa powder, flour, and salt until combined.

5. Spread batter into a parchment-lined 8x8 baking pan.

Step 2: Brown the Butter

1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.

2. Continue cooking until golden brown specks form and the butter smells nutty.

3. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.

Step 3: Make the Cookie Dough

1. Mix browned butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar.

2. Add egg and vanilla.

3. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt.

4. Fold in chocolate chips.

Step 4: Assemble

1. Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over the brownie batter.

2. Gently spread to cover most of the surface.
