When I finally figured out why my Hoya wasn’t growing new leaves for two years, it was a game changer. One key lesson is understanding the importance of root health. Even if a plant looks healthy above the soil, its roots might be struggling to support new growth. Repotting into well-draining soil and ensuring the roots aren’t rootbound helped mine immensely. Another lesson was about light—Hoyas enjoy bright, indirect light, and I realized my plant was not getting enough. Adding a spot near a window that filtered plenty of indirect sunlight made a huge difference. I also learned that overwatering can discourage growth; Hoyas prefer the soil to dry out a bit between watering. Patience was crucial. Some plants just take their time to bounce back, and it’s easy to get discouraged. Rather than making drastic changes all at once, I made small adjustments and gave the plant time to respond. If your houseplant seems to be ‘just existing’ without any visible growth, it’s worth checking root health, light conditions, and watering habits. Sometimes, a little TLC and time are exactly what your plant needs to start thriving again.
