Classic Irish Stew Pie
Ingredients📝
For the Pie Filling
1 pack Puff pastry Flaky crust for the pie.
2 cups Irish stew Tender meat and hearty vegetables mixture.
For the Pastry Wash
1 large Egg For brushing on the crust.
2 teaspoons Water To mix with the egg for wash.
Seasoning and Garnish
1 teaspoon Salt To season the filling.
1 teaspoon Pepper To add a kick to the dish.
1 teaspoon Garlic powder Enhances savory flavor.
2 tablespoons Black sesame seeds For topping.
For Assembly
1 can Canola oil spray To prevent sticking.
Preparation📍
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
Whisk together the egg and 2 teaspoons of water until well-beaten; set aside.
Mix the salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a separate bowl.
Spray pie tins lightly with canola oil and let puff pastry rest at room temperature for 2-3 minutes.
Cut the pastry into pieces that fit your tins and press the bases gently into the oiled tins.
Assembly
Fill each tin about halfway with drained Irish stew.
Brush the rim of each pastry base with some of the egg wash.
Place a pastry top over each filled pie and press edges together to seal.
Coat the top of each pastry with remaining egg wash and sprinkle black sesame seeds.
Cut 2-3 small slits in the center of each pastry top.
Bake at 180°C for 40 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and puffed
