SSH freshman, Ammir Rayyan from Seng Kang Secondary School (@sengkangsecondary_official), received strong recommendations from his PE teachers to enrol in RP's Diploma in Sports & Health (@rp_dsh). The plus point for him was that DSH students were given time to gain a broad overview 👀 before choosing a major in Sports Management ⚽ or Health Coaching 🍎 .
Ammir shared, "My interest in health coaching peaked 📈when I started volunteering in 'ActiveSG’s SG60' programme. I worked closely with elderly participants 👴🏽👵🏽 guiding them through modified activities such as seated volleyball 🏐 and seated badminton 🏸 to keep them active"
Ammir hopes that the skills and knowledge he gains from his diploma will equip him to meaningfully impact the lives of the elderly!

Ammir’s story mirrors what many fresh students experience—having a broad overview helps you make an informed decision. The fact that RP’s program offers majors in Sports Management and Health Coaching means you can tailor your education to your passion and career goals.
Volunteering with programmes like ActiveSG’s SG60 really highlights the practical impact you can have, especially working closely with the elderly. Activities such as seated volleyball and badminton are great examples of adaptive sports that keep seniors engaged and healthy. In my own experience volunteering with elderly fitness initiatives, I found that these tailored activities not only improve physical health but also social wellbeing, which is just as important.
