What I wish I knew & had following my C-Section as a first time mom

Additional Tips:

-Be ready to give yourself some grace.

Your body will have gone through such a tremendous transformation. Even if you think you can move fast, lift something that “isn’t that heavy”- don’t.

-Listen to your body.

if something doesn’t seem right, speak with your healthcare team!! This may have saved me and my baby. Even after baby is home, it is good to feel reassured.

-Priority: you & baby

Houses can be cleaned, laundry can be folded, etc. your baby will never be this tiny again! SOAK IT UP. I regret worrying so much on getting back into cleaning since I was doing better from the preeclampsia, that I forgot I was recovering from a c section, and didn’t realize how much I would miss those first days.

What are some thing you wish you did/had after having your first baby?! #csectiontips #postpartumcare #postpartum #baby

... Read moreRecovering from a C-section can feel overwhelming, especially for first-time moms. One of the most important lessons I learned was the value of preparing a recovery kit with essentials to ease discomfort and promote healing. Items like disposable pads, maternity underwear, nursing pads, and belly binders are incredibly helpful for managing postpartum challenges. I found that having hydrating drinks and electrolyte water readily available kept my energy up, while ice and warm packs helped with breast soreness and incision pain. Another key aspect is giving yourself grace during this recovery phase. It’s tempting to rush back to normal activities, but your body just endured major surgery and needs ample time to heal. In my experience, even light lifting or too much movement too soon can set back recovery. Listening carefully to your body’s signals and checking in regularly with your healthcare team made a significant difference. They provided reassurance and guidance, especially when complications like preeclampsia come into play. I also emphasize the emotional side of recovery. Prioritizing time with your newborn over household chores helped me soak up those precious early moments without added stress. Cleaning and laundry can wait — your baby won’t be this tiny for long. I regret letting my worries about getting back to chores overshadow those irreplaceable first days. Supporting your mental and emotional well-being during postpartum is as vital as physical care. Finally, consider silicone scar gels and proper gauze pads for care of your C-section incision to minimize scarring and prevent infection. Portable chargers and snacks can be lifesavers during long nights, ensuring you stay connected and nourished. From my journey, assembling a thoughtful recovery kit combined with self-compassion and medical support created a more comfortable and manageable postpartum experience. These insights and essentials might just make your transition to motherhood smoother and more enjoyable.

What I Wish I knew before Vtubing
