I don’t believe in sleep training

Ok hear me out…as a first time mom, I was clueless and my child was an awful sleeper. I’m talking split nights every night until she was 15 months old. Social media does a good job of making us feel like we HAVE to do XYZ or we won’t get _____.

The thing is, what I’ve learned through LOTS of research is that sleep is absolutely not a skill to be learned, and it’s definitely not something we need to train our babies to do.

Is sleep harder for some than others? Absolutely. But eventually, all babies sleep. We absolutely don’t need to have them cry it out for it to happen. Babies crave connection and closeness, and being wakeful is normal and should be expected for the first year and beyond. It’s amazing if your baby sleeps 12 hours straight every night, but if your baby isn’t doing that, it doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong as a parent, and it doesn’t mean you have to “train” them.

Chances are, a sleep trained baby was going to be a good sleeper already. And also, some people sleep train without success. L

I’m a firm believer that you know your baby best, but I promise you, you never need to sleep train. You and your baby WILL sleep, someday.

If I guess is such a hot topic lately. I am a sleep trainer. I did with all three of my kids. I learned a lot with my first and started from birth with my signature and my third. Does it mean that they don’t need me in the middle of the night? No. Does it mean that my four year old doesn’t come in my room and we walk him back to his room? No. But laying foundations set everybody up for success.

What time do you feel your best training? 👇🏼
The “best” time to work out? The time you’ll actually do it. Morning workouts aren’t magic. Night workouts aren’t superior. Consistency > timing. Your nervous system, stress levels, work schedule, cycle, and sleep all matter more than forcing a 5am workout because TikTok said so. 🤷🏼‍♀️
