Places to visit next time you’re in Chicago 🏙️
I certainly didn’t have visiting Chicago on my bingo card last year. In fact, this Midwest city wasn’t even on my bucket list! But I ended up visiting twice last year! My best friend moved to the Windy City for work —so naturally I had to go see her!
I’m happy to report that Chicago exceeded all my expectations. There is SO much to do in this massive city! Here’s a list of 3 places I recommend visiting during your next trip to Chicago:
- LondonHouse Chicago, Curio Collection by Hilton is a rooftop bar with an amazing view of the river! It’s has a vibrant atmosphere with yummy drinks!
- The Chicago Riverwalk is a must do in my opinion! It’s so unique and fun to explore! You can also take a boat tour or water taxi along the river if you’d like!
- If you have time, catch a show at The Chicago Theatre — if you don’t have time for a show (like us) the theater is still worth walking by and checking out from the street!

Chicago absolutely captured my heart, and while the three spots I mentioned are fantastic, I've got a few more insights and tips from my trips that I wish I knew beforehand! First off, regarding LondonHouse Chicago, if you're planning to visit, try to go for sunset! The way the city lights start twinkling as the sun dips below the skyline is just magical. It can get pretty busy, especially on weekends, so making a reservation if you plan to stay for a while is a smart move. Their specialty cocktails are a bit pricey, but the vibrant atmosphere and those breathtaking panoramic city views of the river and architecture make it totally worth it for a special treat. I remember sipping a drink and just being mesmerized by the boats passing by on the river below. The Chicago Riverwalk is truly a gem, and there's more to it than just a stroll! While walking its entire length is a great way to see the city from a unique perspective, consider hopping on one of the architectural boat tours. They're genuinely fascinating and give you an incredible overview of the city's history and famous buildings. There are also plenty of casual eateries and cafes spread along the Riverwalk where you can grab a bite or a coffee and just soak in the ambiance. I loved finding a quiet spot to people-watch and take in the green expanse of the river against the towering buildings. As for The Chicago Theatre, even if you don't catch a show, don't miss taking a photo under its iconic, brightly lit marquee. It's a classic Chicago moment! The area around it, the Loop, is also home to some other amazing architectural sights. If you have any interest in art, the Art Institute of Chicago is not too far away and is world-class. Beyond these, if you're looking for more to fill your itinerary, I highly recommend a visit to Millennium Park to see 'The Bean' (Cloud Gate). It's super touristy, but honestly, it's a blast to see the reflections and get some unique photos. And you absolutely cannot leave Chicago without trying some deep-dish pizza! Everyone has their favorite spot, but I tried Lou Malnati's, and it was a revelation – so cheesy and delicious. Getting around Chicago is pretty easy. The 'L' train system is efficient, and walking is often the best way to really experience the different neighborhoods. Just make sure to wear comfortable shoes! Also, if you're visiting in the colder months, bundle up! The "Windy City" nickname is well-earned. I found that visiting in late spring or early fall offered the best weather for exploring. Chicago truly has something for everyone, and I can't wait for my next visit!
