Things to do before graduating✨

My last semester of undergrad was hands down the best time of my life!! There are so many tips that I have for this sector of your life, but here are my tops:

✓ Go to career fairs! If I can give any advice it is this. Everyone I know who utilized these resources benefited in some way, and everyone I know that didn't go wishes they did. Most universities have whole programs designed just to organize these things, so definitely utilize them!

✓ This one is a personal tip of mine. I know it is not for everyone, but one of my biggest regrets was saying no to things just so that I got a 98 instead of a 95. In the grand scheme of things, I wish I had more memories and said yes to more. These are the best time of your life, go live them!

✓ Triple check dates. This time is so overwhelming with all the requirements, so stay extra prepared.

✓ Take graduation pics. This was honestly just a really fun time, and my family definitely appreciated it! I really love the pictures I took, and the experience taking them!

Also, I'm so proud of you!! This is huge, be proud of yourself too!

... Read moreWow, graduating college is such a monumental step, and it's totally normal to feel a mix of excitement and a little bit of overwhelm! Building on my initial tips, I wanted to dive deeper into how you can truly make the most of your final stretch and ensure you cross that finish line feeling accomplished and ready for what's next. First off, let's talk more about career fairs and your post-grad future. It's not just about showing up; it's about being prepared. Before you even step foot in the university building, research the companies attending. Tailor your resume for appealing to different roles, and have a concise "elevator pitch" ready to introduce yourself. Remember that follow-up email is crucial – a quick thank you note can make all the difference! Don't limit your networking to just fairs; reach out to alumni on LinkedIn or connect with professors who might have insights into your desired field. Building these relationships now can open doors you never expected. Then there's the "say yes" to more experiences and making memories. This isn't about neglecting your studies, but about finding that sweet spot. Think about creating a "graduation bucket list" with friends – maybe visiting that one campus spot you always talked about, attending a final sports game, or trying out a new local restaurant. These are the moments you'll look back on. I found that scheduling dedicated "fun time" helped me balance my academic workload with cherishing these last moments. Don't forget to get those iconic graduation cap and gown photos with your friends around your favorite campus spots! Regarding triple-checking dates and planning, this is where a good system comes in handy. Beyond just academic deadlines, consider all the other important dates: applying for graduation, ordering your cap and gown, booking photography sessions, securing housing for after graduation, and understanding financial aid exit interviews. I actually set up a digital calendar with reminders for every single deadline – it was a lifesaver! Proactively tackling these helps avoid last-minute stress, allowing you to enjoy the celebratory moments more. And about those graduation pictures! They're more than just a formality; they're a celebration of your hard work. Plan ahead for your photoshoot: think about outfits, locations (your favorite university landmarks!), and any props you might want (like your degree or an important book). I loved looking back at mine, and my family appreciated having those tangible memories. Finally, don't forget about financial planning for life after college. This is a big one! Start understanding your student loan repayment options, create a realistic post-grad budget, and consider setting up an emergency fund. It might sound daunting, but a little planning now can save a lot of stress later. Also, take some time for self-care. The pressure of finishing strong can be immense. Remember to prioritize your mental well-being, whether it's through exercise, mindfulness, or just spending quality time with loved ones. You've worked so incredibly hard to reach this point, and you absolutely deserve to feel proud and confident as you step into your next chapter!
