Study Techniques for Success🤩

Hey girls! Here are some great study techniques to help you with your grades❤️

I genuinely love the flashcard method so much and I use it all the time. It is the best way I have retained information. I can literally study a whole deck of them for like 2 hours and by the end, I get them all correct. Plus I can decorate and draw or write in the way that helps me learn!

The PQ4R method is also great! For me, the Cornell Method is a great way to use the PQ4R method as well.

I hope these help you and that you pass all your classes🫶🏻🫶🏻

... Read moreHey everyone! Building on my earlier tips, I want to dive deeper into how you can really supercharge your study sessions and make learning stick. You know how much I rave about flashcards? Let's talk about making them even more powerful, especially when combined with a super effective strategy called Spaced Repetition! Flashcards aren't just for rote memorization; they're incredible tools for active recall, which is essentially testing yourself constantly. Instead of passively re-reading notes, you're actively pulling information from your brain. To make them truly work, try to keep it to one concept or question per card, and use concise answers. I love adding little drawings or diagrams – it really makes the information 'click' for me and helps with visual learning, just like I mentioned before! You can use physical cards, or go digital with apps that make organizing and reviewing a breeze. Now, let's talk about a game-changer: Spaced Repetition. This is one of the most powerful types of study techniques out there. The idea is simple but brilliant: you review material at increasing intervals over time. Think about it – instead of cramming everything right before an exam and forgetting it all a week later, spaced repetition helps you combat the 'forgetting curve.' When you get a flashcard right, you review it again in a few days. If you get it wrong, you review it sooner. This method ensures that you're focusing on what you don't know and reinforcing what you do know just before you're about to forget it. It transformed my retention, and honestly, it reduced so much study stress because I felt genuinely prepared. This is why you see it highlighted in infographics about effective study methods! Speaking of PQ4R, as I briefly touched upon earlier, it's a fantastic method for engaging deeply with textbooks and readings. It stands for Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, and Review. When I use it, I start by Previewing the chapter, looking at headings and summaries. Then I turn those headings into Questions I want to answer. As I Read, I look for answers to my questions. Reflect on what you've read, connecting it to what you already know. Recite the main points out loud or to yourself without looking at the text. And finally, Review your notes regularly. I find that using the Cornell Method for my notes makes the 'Recite' and 'Review' stages of PQ4R so much easier, as the summary section helps consolidate everything. And for staying focused, I've also dabbled with the Pomodoro Technique, which is fantastic for breaking down long study sessions and preventing burnout – definitely a game-changer for my attention span! It involves studying for 25 minutes, then taking a 5-minute break. This cycle helps maintain high focus and productivity. Ultimately, these aren't just random hacks; they're strategies designed to improve your grades, reduce study stress, and seriously boost your retention and time management. It's all about working smarter, not just harder. Hope these deeper dives into flashcards, spaced repetition, PQ4R, and even the Pomodoro technique help you feel more confident and prepared for whatever academic challenges come your way! You've got this! ✨
