My Positive Birth Story ✨🌸🫶

On the morning of April 17th, 2025 I had gotten up around 10:30 to get something to eat ( I was 9 months pregnant and food was ALWAYS on my mind 😂). After winning 4 Olympic medals for weight lifting (getting out of bed), I realized I had forgotten my phone on my bed. I hunched over to grab it and as I was getting back up I felt a trickle. I looked down in disbelief and I walked over to the bathroom and a gush of fluid ran down my leg. I was in shock. I looked at the fluid and realized it was not clear, but a brownish color meaning my baby had passed meconium in the womb. I was freaking out at that point and called everyone I knew frantically. My grandmother ended up calling an ambulance to be safe, and when they arrived my contractions immediately began at 2 minutes apart 1 minute long.

When I got to the hospital, they confirmed my water broke (seriously 💀) and admitted me into labor and delivery. My doctor came into my room and we had a discussion.

2 days prior to my delivery, my doctor told me that my baby was deemed large and he recommended a C Section. I was distraught because I wanted a natural delivery. When my doctor arrived he asked me if I wanted to proceed with a natural delivery even knowing the risks of having a potential 10 lb baby. I proceeded because I really wanted to try for my natural delivery. I was dilated to a 2 and I was really starting to feel those strong contractions. I believe I was having back labor because I felt all of my contractions in my back. That was no joke.

My doctor came back in and checked me and said my baby was still stationed high, yet I was dilating. He didn’t like that I was dilating slow so we agreed to start pitocin. That ramped up my contractions so much that at 3 cm I demanded an epidural. Going into pregnancy I already knew I wanted an epidural, and I’m glad I got it!

My epidural relaxed my body and helped me to dilate a lot faster due to not being tense. I was able to talk to my family without being so moody. At around 6 am I was finally dilated to a 10 and started practice pushes. I did the practice pushes for about an hour and a half and he was low enough that they called the doctor in and I started actually pushing. I pushed for a total of 2 hours and my baby boy finally arrived! 8:46 AM April 18th, 8 lbs 10 oz, 21 inches long!

I had a small internal tear. The epidural sadly ended up wearing off but that was intentional. Due to his large size, I wanted to be sure I knew how to push to avoid him getting stuck. Everything went to plan! I was so happy to have had the delivery I wanted.

In total I was in labor for 22 hours and pushed for 2 hours. I had a positive epidural experience. Healing went by so well. The pain went away after 2 weeks and the bleeding stopped after 4 weeks. I gave birth at 38 weeks 6 days. #birthstories #unfiltered #Lemon8Diary #mypregnancyjourney Oklahoma

Birth positive affirmations
It’s important to go with a positive mindset to give birth. Since the moment I found out I was pregnant I was very afraid of the big day. I didn’t have a partner to encourage me as I needed so when I got closer to my due date I started looking up positive affirmations and trying to make up my mind.
