UNMEDICATED HOME BIRTH (positive birth story!)

Payton Ann Knox arrived 2/25/24 at 3:14pm weighing 9lbs 4oz and 21 inches long 💕

I was 41 +1 weeks!

This pregnancy has been so breezy compared to my first. Experienced little to no nausea. Ate everything (almost wanted to over eat at times). Was able to maintain my physical activity all the way up to the last few weeks where I got really sleepy!

First birth was at a birth center, completely unmedicated… this birth was at home, in my bedroom… unmedicated. Labor is and is supposed to be intense. In no way would I ever try to lie to someone and say it is pain free. But it is a strength that women hold deep inside their core. I believe we were designed to have babies with as little to no intervention as possible. Of course, I’m grateful for the medical system and what it can provide for those with complications… but by nature, our bodies are designed, like wild animals, to give birth without the need of inductions, cesereans etc.

👍Pros of a home birth:

- comfort of your own home

- labor progresses faster

- don’t have to worry about getting somewhere

- no hospital stays

- cheaper

- more relaxing experience

- health benefits for baby (having no induction medication or pain relief running through their bodies)

- latches sooner

🤔Cons:

- birth can be faster and more intense

- could wake your neighbors up 😂

... Read moreHome births have gained popularity among expectant mothers seeking a personalized and intimate birthing experience. Having a baby in the comfort of your own home allows for a more relaxed environment, which can reduce stress and anxiety during labor. Many women, like in this article, feel that unmedicated births empower them, allowing them to connect with their bodies and instincts. In addition to comfort, home births can lead to shorter labor durations and quicker recovery times, as mothers are not subjected to the medical interventions often present in hospital settings. It's also notable that babies born at home often experience health benefits, such as improved breastfeeding outcomes. However, potential parents should consider both sides—while a home birth may provide comfort and autonomy, it can be intense and may not always have immediate medical support available. It’s essential to plan carefully, ideally with a healthcare provider experienced in home births, to ensure safety for both mother and baby. For those interested in exploring this option, staying informed and connecting with others in the community can provide invaluable insights and support. Join forums and discussions focused on home births, natural childbirth, and empowering birth stories to better understand and prepare for the journey ahead.
