When I started, I truly felt like I was doing my best 😭, and it really tested my discipline, but the blessings that followed were so worth it! I wanted to share a bit more about my journey and answer some of the questions I often hear, especially since I focused on "Things I ate during my Daniel Fast" to keep me going. A big question I get is about sweeteners like maple syrup on the Daniel Fast. From my understanding and research, traditional maple syrup is generally not permitted because it's a processed sugar. The Daniel Fast focuses on natural, unprocessed foods. So, I personally avoided it. For sweetness, I relied heavily on fruits! My morning bowls with sliced bananas, chopped strawberries, and shredded coconut (as you might have seen in my photos!) were my go-to. Dates can also be a natural sweetener if used sparingly in recipes, but I mostly stuck to whole fruits. It really makes you appreciate the natural sugars in nature! Another common query: can you eat eggs on a Daniel Fast? The simple answer is no. The Daniel Fast is plant-based, which means no animal products, including eggs, dairy, or meat. This was a challenge for me as I love eggs for breakfast! I quickly learned to get creative with oats, fruit bowls, and even savory plant-based options like a hearty mix of corn kernels, yellow bell pepper strips, and red onion for a savory breakfast scramble without the eggs. It pushed me out of my comfort zone! And what about Daniel Fast condiments? This is where it gets tricky, as many store-bought options contain added sugars, chemicals, or non-compliant ingredients. I made my own dressings with olive oil, vinegar (apple cider or balsamic), herbs, and spices. Lemon juice and fresh garlic became my best friends! For sauces, I learned to rely on homemade tomato-based sauces without added sugar. That reddish stew or soup with beans you saw in my pictures? Packed with natural flavors and compliant spices! Regarding drinks, like the query about Prophet Premium Blends Orange Pineapple – this is a great example of why you must read labels carefully. Most blended juices, even if they sound healthy, often contain added sugars or non-compliant ingredients. On the Daniel Fast, water is your primary drink. You can also have 100% natural, unsweetened fruit or vegetable juices, but they need to be truly 100% juice with no added anything. Herbal teas are also usually fine. Always check those ingredients lists! Finally, a word on foods to eat after fasting. Breaking the fast gently is crucial. After all that dedication, you don't want to upset your system. I slowly reintroduced foods, starting with easy-to-digest items. Don't immediately jump back into heavy meats, dairy, or refined sugars. Think light, wholesome meals for a few days – like more of those delicious fruit and oat bowls (maybe that purple berry puree topped with oats or granola you saw!). Gradually add back other food groups. It's about transitioning back to a balanced diet, not a sudden feast. The Daniel Fast is a spiritual journey as much as a dietary one. It's about sacrifice and seeking God. It taught me so much about self-control and appreciating simple, whole foods. If you're "on the Daniel Fast," remember your 'WHY' and lean into your faith. You can do this! BUT GOD will see you through. ✨
