I just used a French vanilla box cake mix and added milk instead of water & 2 tbs of butter for some more flavor .
INSTRUCTIONS :
Bake your cake following the instructions on the box . Milk and butter is optional , you can always just use what you have .
For the frosting ;
1st whip the heavy cream with your powder sugar until stiff peaks form , then add your flavorings, salt , as it’s mixing .
2nd add your mascarpone cheese in quarters . Once it’s all mixed it should be fluffy and smooth !
You can totally use vanilla bean paste I’m sure it’d taste even better but I only had vanilla at the time .
Frost your cake as you please , this should be enough for two cake layers (: I also added strawberry jam and strawberries to my cake !
ENJOY ❤️🍓

One tip I found useful is to choose good quality mascarpone cheese, as it adds a creamy richness that balances well with the lightness of whipped cream and cream cheese. Whipping the heavy cream to stiff peaks before folding in the mascarpone ensures a smooth, fluffy frosting that spreads easily and holds its shape well.
When using a boxed French vanilla cake mix, I recommend replacing water with milk and adding butter as Simplee Liz suggests. This simple step greatly enhances the cake’s flavor and moistness, giving it a more homemade quality without extra effort. If you want to experiment further, consider adding a teaspoon of almond extract to the batter for a subtle nutty aroma that complements the frosting.
One personal favorite addition is layering strawberry jam and fresh strawberries between the cake layers. This adds a delightful fruity freshness and slight tartness, which contrasts beautifully with the creamy Chantilly frosting. When frosting the cake, using an offset spatula can help achieve a smooth, professional finish.
If you have vanilla bean paste available, it’s a fantastic upgrade to the vanilla extract in the frosting. The paste gives an intense vanilla flavor and little flecks of vanilla bean that make your cake feel extra special. For decoration, a light dusting of powdered sugar or a few extra fresh strawberries on top can add an elegant touch.
Overall, this Chantilly cake recipe is versatile and approachable, perfect for celebrations or just a special treat. It’s a great recipe for beginners and experts alike who want to enjoy a lighter, creamy cake without too much sweetness.
