To Glow Up is to Grow Up
When I was way younger I always thought that there would be this magical moment where I’d suddenly have a sense of the fashion trends and I’d be able to do more than apply makeup and most importantly I would feel magical and beautiful.
Needless to say that while this did happen (except the makeup part because oh boy do I struggle) it was not an overnight change by any means. As each year passed I got more comfortable in my skin and in my body and I learned that the magic was already in me. I just needed the maturity to recognize it and see it in myself! I used to hate EVERYTHING about myself and was my own worst critic when it came to my looks and personality. I denied myself so much joy trying to cookie cutter myself into what I thought society wanted me to be.
Here I am now at 35 and I am living my best life. I’m wearing what makes ME happy and I’m having fun with my accessories and makeup (when I decide to be bold and do more than mascara). I’m eating without feeling guilty and I’m working out at my own pace.
So if you’re currently struggling with your own self image just know that if you start dressing how you want and living for yourself one day you will actually wake up and be okay with what you see!
