HOMEMADE CHAI CONCENTRATE 🫖🤎🫚
One of my favorite things to make from scratch! It tastes fresher and more flavorful, plus you can sweeten it to your liking 😌 I like to use maple syrup or coconut sugar to sweeten, but you can use whatever you prefer. And for the whole spices, I get them in bulk from my local health food store! You can also find them on Amazon if needed🤝
Homemade Chai Concentrate Recipe 🫖
1 inch knob of ginger
4 star anise
1 tsp black peppercorns
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp whole cloves
2 tsp cardamom pods
3 cinnamon sticks
1 vanilla bean (sliced open, or sub for mixing in 1 tsp vanilla extract at the end)
5 black tea bags
5 cups filtered water
1/4 cup sweetener of choice (I like to use coconut sugar or maple syrup)
Add the ginger, star anise, black peppercorns, nutmeg, cloves, and cardamom to a food processor. Pulse 4-5 times, or until everything is roughly chopped.
Transfer this to a large pot, along with the tea bags, vanilla bean, cinnamon sticks, and filtered water.
Bring to a simmer over low-medium heat. Let simmer for 5 minutes. Then, turn off the heat, stir in your sweetener of choice, cover the pot, and let steep until cooled.
Strain and transfer the chai concentrate to an airtight container. Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Yeah, it sucks cause I would love to love chai. It smells so good but I can’t do black pepper. It’s an allergy and actual allergy. I have to take allergy medicine just to eat out so I try and cook at home most the time and I don’t like anything that taste like black licorice for me anyway. I tried making a version of it. It just came out kind of like a cinnamon ginger, cardamom tea, milk tea I guess anyway it’s not a true chai tea I know that but what can you do?😂
