Personally, I learned to take strategic sips of water or dairy to handle the spiciness and avoid overwhelming my palate. Another important aspect is mental toughness. Staying motivated and focusing on incremental goals—like getting past that 'furthest anybody's ever gotten' mark—can make a huge difference.
