Achieving this perfect crust involves a long, slow fermentation that develops both flavor and texture. The process may seem lengthy, but the anticipation adds to the satisfaction once you slice into that freshly baked loaf. Taking it a step further, I added jalapeño and cheddar to one of the mini loaves, combining the mild heat of the peppers with the creamy richness of sharp cheddar cheese.
