When you know you have not much time left…

One year ago, I was told I have heart failure. The doctor said I may have at most five years left.

Instead of being sad or scared, I felt grateful. Five years is still enough time to do what I want, to love my kids, to live fully.

I know sometimes when I joke about “not much time left,” people think I’m being negative. But honestly, I feel peace. My three kids are strong — I see them being brave even though deep down they’re worried. I’ve always taught them that life is a short mission God gives us. And they believe it too. That’s why we cherish every moment together.

Life wasn’t always smooth. I went through a failed marriage, many disappointments, and hurt from people close to me. But I still choose to be thankful. Every person who came into my life had a reason. Every season taught me something.

I don’t let the doctor’s words stop me from dreaming. I keep living, keep doing, keep loving. Because every single day is a gift. Not for worrying, not for grieving — but for living with meaning.

If you’re reading this, remember: time is short for all of us. Don’t wait to show love, don’t wait to chase your dreams. Live like today matters — because it really does.

... Read moreFacing a life-limiting diagnosis like heart failure can radically shift one’s perspective on time and priorities. Instead of focusing on fear or loss, many find strength in gratitude and the desire to live more meaningfully. Cherishing moments with family, as expressed in this personal story, helps create deep bonds and teach resilience to loved ones, especially children who may also be grappling with difficult emotions. Many people confronted with serious health challenges emphasize living intentionally. This means pursuing dreams, expressing love openly, and finding joy even amidst hardships. The idea of life as a “short mission” aligns with many spiritual or philosophical views suggesting our time is limited and precious, encouraging us to make the most of each day. Involving family in this mindset can foster collective peace and bravery. Children learn not just to cope, but to appreciate the valuable lessons every season of life offers—even those marked by pain. Embracing thankfulness for every person and experience turns hardships into growth opportunities. It's important for those facing uncertainty to continue dreaming and engaging fully with life. Everyday actions—dreaming, loving, doing—become acts of courage. This proactive approach can alleviate feelings of helplessness, transforming worry into purposeful living. Furthermore, recognizing that time is limited not just for oneself but for everyone can be a powerful motivator to avoid procrastination in expressing love or chasing personal goals. It reminds us that waiting can mean missed opportunities to connect and experience life’s richness. The sacred silence mentioned in the related image text, often observed in religious settings, can be a metaphor for mindfulness and reflection. Embracing moments of stillness helps individuals orient themselves spiritually or emotionally during challenging times, fostering acceptance and inner peace. Overall, this mindset model provides a roadmap for living fully despite adversity—prioritizing gratitude, love, meaningful action, and presence.

How much to save before taking a career break
It’s a question I used to ask myself for years — because taking a break from work felt like such a luxury. I thought once I saved enough, I’d finally do it. But the truth is, even after I hit that number, I didn’t. The fear of not having a job, of falling behind, of not knowing what’s next — it
