did you eat enough today? ❤️‍🩹🙏

05/15/2026

Normally I carefully craft meals so I can avoid becoming irritable at 4pm. Today… was not one of those days.

My daughter is sick and none of us have slept properly in days and i’m still going to work full time, and my car always seems to be out of gas and our trash can always seems to be overflowing and there’s too much and not enough in our fridge and we ate out all weekend so now i’ll feel bloated until 2027 and i want to get in more steps and lock in but i just cant find her today.

So we’ll do the best we can with what we’ve been given..

she is sick but i still have her there with me to hold.

we are tired but i still have my husband reaching out to grab my hand at night.

our house is a little messy and our minds are cluttered but we still have a roof over our heads.

the meals have gotten a bit off track but we are grateful for the food we have.

things seem bleak and dark but we can step outside anytime we like to feel the wind at our back and the sun on our face ☀️

I hope if this finds you, it helps you, too 🫶

In my own experience, I've found that flexibility and gratitude form the cornerstone of maintaining a balanced diet—even when the day feels chaotic. For instance, incorporating nutrient-dense ingredients like chia seeds, hemp seeds, and peanut butter into meals, such as the salted honey banana bread porridge mentioned, can provide sustained energy and vital nutrients with minimal preparation time. These small choices help keep cravings and energy crashes at bay. When life throws curveballs, sometimes we rely on comfort foods or quick grab-and-go meals, such as buffalo chicken bowls or a burger and sweet potato dinner. I’ve noticed that pairing these with fiber-rich options and fermented foods—like pickled red onions or pomegranate salsa—supports gut health and digestion, critical during times of stress. Snacking on a variety of wholesome treats, like milk bar cookies alongside protein bars, offers both a morale boost and necessary protein and calcium to keep you going. And don’t underestimate the power of hydration: peppermint tea in the evening not only soothes but can aid digestion and promote relaxation, helping offset those sleepless nights. Ultimately, the lesson is to be kind to yourself and embrace imperfection. A messy house or unplanned meals do not diminish the love and effort you pour into your family’s wellbeing. Sometimes, simply acknowledging the good—like sharing a hand to hold or feeling the sun on your face—can be as nourishing as the food itself. If you’re struggling to keep up, remember it’s okay to do the best you can with what you have. These small moments of care and gratitude create resilience. I hope this sharing encourages you to nurture both your body and spirit, even on the busiest, most overwhelming days.
