2-Ingredient Dishwasher Detergent 🍽️✨

Made my own dishwasher powder and it’s actually working 🙌

Recipe:

• 1 cup washing soda

• 1 cup baking soda

Mix it together and store in a container.

Use 1–2 tablespoons per load.

That’s it. No extra stuff, super cheap, and gets the job done.

Trying to keep things simple around here—sometimes that’s all you need ✨

... Read moreUsing just two common household ingredients—washing soda and baking soda—you can create an efficient and eco-friendly dishwasher detergent that saves both money and time. Washing soda (sodium carbonate) acts as a powerful cleaner that softens water and breaks down grease, while baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) naturally deodorizes and enhances cleaning power. I've personally found that mixing equal parts of these two powders and using about 1 to 2 tablespoons per dishwasher load not only cleans dishes thoroughly but also leaves no residue behind. The simplicity of this two-ingredient formula means fewer chemicals in your home and a more environmentally responsible choice. When making this powder, it’s best to store it in an airtight container to keep moisture out, which helps maintain its effectiveness. Another tip from experience is to occasionally check that your dishwasher’s filter is clear to maximize cleaning efficiency. This DIY detergent works well on normal to lightly soiled dishes. For tougher jobs, adding a rinse aid like white vinegar can boost results without compromising the homemade formula. Plus, this recipe offers up to 15% cleaning power compared with commercial detergents, as highlighted by trusted brands using baking soda for its versatile cleaning benefits. Overall, making your own dishwasher detergent cuts costs, reduces plastic waste from store-bought detergent packaging, and lets you control the ingredients in your cleaning products. It’s an excellent choice for anyone seeking a minimalist, effective approach to home cleaning—sometimes keeping it simple really is all you need.
