& of course it’s at a good price!

I’m not a pro at sourdough making but I have don’t some digging into the process and thought I’d share the little bit I know about what people are using.

Before sourdough became an internet sensation I had never seen some of these tools they were using in the kitchen. So here’s a list of those common items and what you can get at Aldi!

Many of Aldi's options are pretty good value, and while some might use a small amount of commercial yeast alongside a starter for consistency, others are more traditional. The fermentation process in sourdough can make it easier to digest for some people and can even lower the glycemic index compared to regular white bread, making it a potentially healthier choice for your gut. As for who makes Aldi's sourdough bread, it can vary by region and even by specific product. Aldi works with various bakeries to supply their stores, so it's not always one single producer. If you're really curious, sometimes you can find manufacturer codes or details on the packaging, or even ask a store manager. What I find really great is that Aldi often has protein-enriched sourdough bread too, which is fantastic for an extra boost if you're hitting the gym or just want a more filling breakfast. Now, let's talk about actually eating that delicious sourdough! Whether you've baked your own with those cool Aldi tools (like a new Proofing Basket or Bread Oven!) or picked up a loaf from the store, the possibilities are endless. For breakfast, sourdough is a game-changer. Forget plain toast! I love mine simply toasted with a good quality butter and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt. But you can elevate it with avocado and a poached egg, or even make a quick breakfast bruschetta with chopped tomatoes, basil, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze.
