Being vulnerable is something I know little about. I’m trying to learn to be more vulnerable and not always the strong woman. It’s tough and sometimes a burden to be label strong.
🤍 My Story: y’all I really use to be a bad bishh!! ima just start this off by being 100% honest. I feel tf off!! Being in your 30s is HARD. I see so many people living their best lives and screaming how dope your 30s are, and yes I strongly believe they can be. That’s just not my story…yet. The same year I turned 30, I lost my mom. I haven’t been the same since. I completely let myself GO. I lost my mom at a time I believe a woman really needs that relationship. Being single and childless makes it hard to imagine having those things in my future without having my mom around. I’m now 33 and this year I demanded a change.
🤍 How I Felt: There’s no way to explain the feeling of losing and having to live without your mom. I was depressed for a very long time. I didn’t leave my house, I drink every night, I gained a crazy amount of weight, I barely worked and I just gave up on myself. It wasn’t until this year that I really took a step back and looked at myself & I hated who I was becoming. Now I’m on a journey of self love and it’s very personal to me.
🤍 My Takeaways: I learned that for me, moving forward is something you have to do on your own and at your own time. A lot of the friends that were always around for the good times, won’t be around for the bad. My main takeaway however was that you can’t help anybody if you can’t help yourself first! You’re no good to anybody else if you’re no good for your own self! 🩷
