Old Man Fitness 😎
Tonight I worked the reflex bag a few rounds (2) while wearing a 20lb weighted vest, because I have a couple fitness goals before my 60th birthday in March.
I’m also thinking about starting up an old dudes boxing group.
Participants must be slightly hard of hearing, must be visually impaired (but not completely blind😏), have at least one bad knee, and overweight.
As someone working towards fitness milestones later in life, I've found that adapting workouts to fit physical limitations is both encouraging and effective. Using a 20lb weighted vest while doing reflex bag rounds is a great way to increase resistance without needing heavy weights, which can be harsh on aging joints. Additionally, creating a community like an "old dudes boxing group" caters to fitness enthusiasts who face common challenges such as hearing loss, vision impairment, and knee issues. Tailoring activities to include those who might be overweight or dealing with physical setbacks helps foster motivation and camaraderie. This approach not only improves physical health but also supports mental well-being through social connection. For those interested in similar fitness journeys, starting with light boxing drills, reflex training, and gradually incorporating weighted vests can build strength, agility, and endurance safely. It’s important to listen to your body and modify exercises when necessary. Group workouts add accountability and make fitness enjoyable, especially among peers with shared experiences. Ultimately, setting achievable fitness goals before milestone ages can inspire consistency and holistic health improvements.
