After being in a reading slump for a while, this book brought back my spark to dive back into it! So good, I read it in 1 day, which is so rare for me since I’m a pretty slow reader & I have 2 kids!

First things first, HELLO GARRETT GRAHAM!!! But really, I fell in love with all the characters in this book (well minus one, iykyk). I am so happy this is a series because one book was not enough! I plan on devouring the whole series asap!

... Read moreAfter diving headfirst into 'The Deal,' Elle Kennedy's first book in the Off-Campus series, I completely understand why it's a fan favorite. This novel didn't just pull me out of a reading slump; it reignited my love for contemporary romance. As someone who's always on the lookout for a good story, let me tell you more about what makes this book so captivating and why Garrett Graham instantly became a top book boyfriend. A huge question I often see about 'The Deal' is its spice level, and I can confirm it definitely delivers! Without giving away any spoilers, I'd rate it a solid 🌶️🌶️🌶️ out of 5. It’s got that perfect blend of steamy scenes woven into a compelling plot, developing naturally as the characters' relationship deepens. The spice isn't just for shock value; it truly enhances the emotional connection between Hannah and Garrett, making their journey even more intense and believable. If you're looking for a romance that’s both heartwarming and hot, this is absolutely it. The tropes in 'The Deal' are masterfully executed, creating an addictive reading experience. The 'hockey romance' aspect is incredibly fun, immersing you in the competitive world of college athletes. Garrett Graham, our star hockey player, is swoon-worthy, and the dynamics of team life add a unique flavor to the narrative. The 'college romance' setting brings all the excitement, drama, and challenges of young adult life, making the characters feel incredibly relatable. But what truly makes it shine are the 'fake dating' and 'friends-to-lovers' tropes. Watching Hannah and Garrett navigate their initial fake relationship, only for genuine feelings to blossom, is incredibly satisfying. It’s a beautifully paced slow burn that pays off spectacularly, making you root for them every step of the way. The illustrated cover featuring a hockey player embracing a woman perfectly captures this quintessential college romance vibe. Speaking of Garrett Graham, he's undoubtedly one of the best book boyfriends out there! He's not just a charming jock; he's got depth, vulnerability, and a fierce protective streak that will absolutely melt your heart. His personal journey throughout Book 1 is just as compelling as Hannah's, and their chemistry is undeniably off the charts. You'll be thinking about him long after you've turned the last page, eager for more of his story. Knowing that 'The Deal' is just the beginning of the Off-Campus series makes it even better. Elle Kennedy has created a whole world at Briar University, and after finishing this first installment, I'm incredibly eager to dive into the stories of the other characters. Each book focuses on a different couple, but they're all interconnected, offering more of that fantastic college romance energy and deep friendships. If you fell for Garrett and Hannah, you'll definitely want to continue with their friends' stories and discover what else Briar University has in store. Ultimately, 'The Deal' is a fantastic read that delivers on all fronts: a captivating plot, memorable characters, and just the right amount of steam. It's a testament to why Elle Kennedy is a go-to author for contemporary romance. If you're wondering whether to pick up this paperback, my advice is a resounding yes! Just be sure to check the content warnings for SA and domestic violence if those are triggers for you.
