chakra work

i first intentionally tried chakra work 12 years ago. i was in my masters program studying herbalism

looking back, i can’t think of a better place for me to have learned about this practice

i now love working my chakras along with what’s happening in my astrological chart and overall life or phases of the moon

i truly don’t know if any of it “works” or if it’s all a “keep to the front of my mind like a vision board” feel of placebo effect?!

either way. i love it. it’s calmed me down and helped pay attention to the seasons of my life. im more motivated to journal and pay attention to how food is making my body feel or what type of exercise i need. i’m more conscious of my time and words when able to drop out of my head and find ways to be present.

here’s my intentions: each month, while meditating or exercising or journaling, i’ll set my intentions to focus on one chakra at a time #rootup !! meaning i will start with my root chakra and clear towards my crown.

APRIL: root chakra

MAY: sacral chakra

JUNE: solar plexus chakra

JULY: heart chakra

AUGUST: throat chakra

SEPTEMBER:third eye chakra

OCTOBER:crown chakra

my hope is when life gets wild, i’ll have a go-to place to meditate in. i’ll be less likely to skip my inner work and by the time the election is here, i’ll have worked through to my crown.

i’m not sure if i’ll post much about it here but if i do, i’ll use the #rootup . if this resonates, please share your practice with the same hashtag.

i’d love to learn more from others who believe in trying the oldest ways

... Read moreWhen I first embarked on my chakra journey, understanding the 'chakra map' was a revelation. It’s so much more than just a diagram; it’s a beautiful guide to your inner energetic landscape, helping you pinpoint areas that might need a little extra attention. Seeing a visual representation, like the diagram illustrating the seven main chakras labeled with their name, Sanskrit term, color, and symbol, really helped me connect with each energy center. For me, this map became a practical tool, much like my monthly practice, for navigating my emotions and staying grounded through life's ups and downs. Here’s a quick personal guide to the seven main chakras and what they often mean in my own experience, informing my 'monthly chakra work': Root Chakra (Muladhara): Located at the base of your spine, its vibrant red color grounds you. This is where I feel my connection to stability, security, and basic needs. When I focus on my Root Chakra, especially in April, I think about feeling safe and supported, often by spending time in nature or preparing nourishing meals. Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana): Just below your navel, this orange energy center is all about creativity, pleasure, and emotional flow. My May focus on the Sacral Chakra involves embracing joy, allowing emotions to move freely, and finding inspiration in everything from art to conversation. Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura): In your upper abdomen, this bright yellow chakra is your center of personal power and confidence. In June, I reflect on my self-worth, setting boundaries, and trusting my intuition. It’s amazing how much clearer I feel when this chakra is balanced! Heart Chakra (Anahata): In the center of your chest, glowing green (or sometimes pink), this is the heart of love, compassion, and connection – both for yourself and others. My July practice focuses on self-love, forgiveness, and extending kindness to others – truly seeing the beauty in connection. Throat Chakra (Vishuddha): Found in your throat, this serene blue chakra governs communication and self-expression. In August, I make a conscious effort to speak my truth with integrity, to listen deeply, and to express my authentic self without fear. Third Eye Chakra (Ajna): Situated between your eyebrows, its deep indigo hue is linked to intuition, insight, and inner wisdom. My September reflection centers on trusting my gut feelings, enhancing my spiritual awareness, and gaining clarity through meditation. Crown Chakra (Sahasrara): At the very top of your head, this violet or white chakra connects you to universal consciousness and spiritual enlightenment. As October arrives, my focus shifts to feeling connected to something greater than myself, embracing oneness, and finding peace in spiritual understanding. Understanding this personal chakra map has truly empowered me. It’s not about perfection, but about having a framework to consciously check in with yourself. Whether you follow a monthly rhythm or simply use these insights to reflect, exploring your own chakra system can be a profound path to inner peace and self-awareness.
