DAYS 36-37: A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS
Let’s just say that waking up by the river was the last thing we’d enjoy for two days. High winds, lost keys, a failed river crossing, a flat tire, a terribly overpriced accom, freezing cold, and no heat once again. We did have one shower in three days though and learned how to change the back wheel on this bike.
I’m traveling to all seven wonders of the world without flying and you don’t wanna miss out.

Traveling to all seven wonders of the world without flying is an incredible adventure that comes with its fair share of unexpected challenges, as I experienced during days 36 and 37. Waking up by the river seemed serene at first, but the high winds and freezing temperatures quickly turned those moments into tests of resilience. One key lesson I learned was the importance of being prepared for any situation — especially when it comes to vehicle maintenance. For example, changing the back wheel of my bike in the cold was tough but necessary, and it’s a skill I recommend every overland traveler to master. Apart from mechanical hiccups, bad luck followed me in the form of lost keys and a failed river crossing, which added delays and frustration. Accommodation was another trial: overpriced and without heating, it reminded me that comfort is a luxury you can’t always count on during such journeys. However, even with just one shower in three days, the experience was deeply fulfilling. It pushed me to embrace the raw, unpredictable nature of travel without flying. For solo travelers considering a similar route, my advice is to pack smart, not just in terms of gear but also mentally preparing for setbacks. Embrace local knowledge, plan for weather extremes, and keep in contact with your network whenever possible to minimize risks during remote crossings or mechanical failures. Tracking daily stats like steps taken or distances traveled keeps motivation high while reminding you how far you’ve come. This journey isn’t just about reaching destinations — it’s about the stories, growth, and resilience developed along the way. If you’re curious about experiencing the seven wonders in an eco-friendly, adventurous style, following such travel tales can provide invaluable insight, inspiration, and practical tips. Don’t miss out on discovering how perseverance in the face of adversity makes the journey truly unforgettable.
