Growing fire: I’m finally repotting my Habanero
This is the story of a pepper who, against all odds, survived!
We got this little guy at a big box retailer. As you can see, he was at death’s door. I’ll admit that when we first got him, I wasn’t sure if it would pull through.
Still, I decided to take on the challenge because it’s rumored in the gardening world that plants that come back, come back better. This pepper was less than a few days away from desiccation and had signs it was ill. When we got home, I removed it from the tiny old pot, spread out the roots, planted in a bigger container and gave it some much needed water. Since the plant looked ill & dried out, I decided I wouldn’t expose one of my pots to its illness and planted it in the container I got my blueberry shrub in.
I then trimmed all the lifeless leaves off, leaving my habanero completely bald. It looked so sad I didn’t even bother taking pictures. At this point, I was certain this fella wasn’t going to make it.
But then…a miracle! New healthy leaves started sprouting from the stem. Today I took a look at him & said “It’s time”. Do you have a plant you saved from the plant reaper?

Plant comebacks are the best. I'm so bad at keeping plants alive, but this gives me hope.
