Neuro Cartography

Witch Punk Original Painting (2026)

4’x2’ Mixed Media on Panel and Wood

Available now at Witch-Punk.com

For nearly 30 years, my head felt like it was tuned to a radio station with nothing but static. I spent two and a half decades self-medicating with marijuana while cycling through antidepressants and mood stabilizers that just made everything feel gray and heavy. I suffered withdrawals, anxiety over doctors appointments, insurance whiplash and manic episodes that didn’t have to happen.

In 2025, everything changed. I finally got a real diagnosis: Bi-Polar 2 with ADHD Spectrum. I’ve always known I was neurodivergent, so it was amazing receiving validation.

I walked away from the weed, switched the meds, and for the first time since I was a kid, the fog lifted. An exorcism for thirty years of dampened signals.

This painting is exactly what the inside of my brain looks like. To anyone else, it probably looks disjointed, chaotic, and completely random. But the beauty of it is that I actually know where everything is now. I’ve learned how to handle the noise. When I get distracted, I know how to find my way back. When I hyperfocus, I can actually finish what I started.

It’s convoluted, it’s overwhelming but, I’ve never seen the path more clearly.

... Read moreLiving with neurodivergence often feels like navigating an intricate map with many unexpected turns. Like the artist behind 'Neuro Cartography,' I have personally experienced the fog of undiagnosed mental health conditions and the exhausting cycle of self-medication and medication trials. What stood out deeply in this story is the profound relief and empowerment that comes with receiving an accurate diagnosis, such as Bipolar 2 with ADHD Spectrum. This validation can be life-changing, marking the beginning of a clearer path forward. Through my own experience, I've learned that managing neurodivergence involves patience and recognizing the unique signals your brain sends. The metaphor of one's brain as a chaotic yet navigable landscape resonates strongly. Techniques like mindfulness, structured routines, and creative outlets have helped me reclaim control when distractions or overwhelming feelings arise. Hyperfocus, while sometimes challenging, can turn into a superpower with the right strategies, allowing projects to be completed and goals achieved. Artistic expression, as seen with 'Neuro Cartography,' offers a vital channel for externalizing internal experiences that are hard to verbalize. Creating or engaging with art not only fosters self-understanding but also builds community among neurodivergent individuals. Sharing these visuals and stories can dismantle stigma, highlighting that what might seem disjointed or chaotic can indeed have a meaningful and beautiful order. If you relate to navigating such a complex mental landscape, consider seeking professional diagnosis and support if you haven’t already. Combining the right medical care with personal coping methods and creative passions can illuminate your unique path, making the overwhelming more manageable and the unclear, clearer.

This image defines neurodivergence as brains working differently from typical, not broken, and includes conditions like ADHD and ASD. It emphasizes that brains, like people, come in all types, bringing both strengths and challenges, highlighting the importance of support.
