Why I deleted social media

Vulnerability

🤍 I genuinely deleted social media last night… but it was something constantly in the back of my head. I am currently growing a relationship with God everyday more and more. Social media just started weighing on me and my mental.

- comparing myself to others

- comparing lifestyles to mine

- wardrobe

- relationships

you name it. Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok and Snapchat can all have great things on them — I love watching reels. BUT I noticed I spent more time on my explore page than on my regular followers… straight negativity and just a popularity contest. If you’re from NYC you know how it is. And, while i’m trying to grow a more positive and successful relationship with God, me watching all of this and constantly comparing my life I’m never going to be able to appreciate the life I live. which is beautiful as is (still has room for growth everyday of course).

So we took a break, it’s been a few hours and not having anything to just scroll on and watch videos is kind of ughhhhh let me log back on BUT I think taking time to focus on myself, my child, GOD, the gym and bettering my life without watching others will better me everyday.

... Read moreOkay, so my friend recently shared her honest journey about stepping away from social media, and it really got me thinking. It's not just about hitting 'delete'; it's about reclaiming so much more for your well-being. When we talk about "WHY I DEACTIVATED ALL SOCIAL MEDIA," it often boils down to a profound desire for peace and genuine connection. One of the absolute biggest payoffs I've heard (and started to feel myself, even in just a short break!) is the incredible boost to mental well-being. Think about it: less comparison, less fear of missing out, and a huge reduction in anxiety. That constant scroll, seeing everyone's perfectly curated lives, often leaves us feeling inadequate, right? Without it, there's a quiet peace that settles in. It’s like a weight lifted, allowing you to appreciate your own journey and strengths without constant external validation or comparison. And let's talk about time! Before, I'd pick up my phone for 'just a minute' and suddenly an hour was gone. Now, that time is free for things that genuinely nourish my soul – whether it's diving into a good book, spending quality time with my loved ones, or finally getting to that workout I've been putting off. It’s amazing how much more productive and present you can be when you’re not caught in the endless scroll. This reclaimed time can be channeled into personal growth, pursuing hobbies, or simply enjoying moments of quiet reflection. It's not just about what you stop doing, but what you start doing. I've noticed a real shift towards more meaningful, in-person interactions. Instead of just seeing updates online, I’m actually calling friends, making plans, and truly connecting. It deepens relationships in a way that likes and comments just can't. You start valuing quality over quantity in your social interactions, which is incredibly refreshing. Of course, it’s not always easy. That initial urge to 'just log back on' is real! It’s like a habit break, and it can feel a bit uncomfortable at first to break free from the instant gratification loop. My advice? Find healthy alternatives. Pick up a new hobby, go for a walk, meditate, journal your thoughts, or reconnect with nature. Focus on those personal goals: like connecting with your faith, hitting the gym, or dedicating undivided attention to your kids. It truly helps fill the void with something positive and long-lasting, turning the initial discomfort into lasting contentment. Ultimately, taking a break or even completely deactivating social media can be a powerful step towards a more authentic, fulfilling life. It’s about choosing to invest in yourself and your real-world experiences over a curated online feed. You might be surprised by the profound clarity and genuine happiness that emerges when you step away from the noise. It's a journey, but one absolutely worth embarking on for your peace of mind and overall well-being.

I've finally ditched all my social media, except for Lemon8, and here's why: 1. Nothing felt real anymore—it was like living in a never-ending highlight reel. 2. The pressure to be perfect was overwhelming, and it was exhausting trying to keep up. 3. I was tired of seeing the same

I’ve never really been big on Snapchat, I’ve had that deleted for almost a year. I would scroll on instagram for hours on and off. I came to realize not only is it time consuming but pointless. You are literally on there to look into other peoples life’s and give hints about yours. It’s something t
