These foods contain biotin, collagen, and keratin, which are building blocks for healthy hair. In addition to diet, how you handle your hair daily matters a lot. For example, wetting your hair with tap water before swimming helps create a protective barrier that reduces chlorine and saltwater damage, which are common contributors to weakened hair and scalp irritation. Minimizing heat styling tools like hairdryers and straighteners can also prevent damage. I personally opt to air dry my hair or use a towel gently to dry, and when necessary, use a heat protectant spray if styling tools are involved. Avoiding tight hairstyles that pull on the scalp is crucial, as excessive tension can lead to hair breakage and contribute to receding hairlines or crown thinning. Instead, using a wide-tooth comb helps prevent breakage while detangling. Regular haircuts help remove split ends and promote healthier hair growth. I also switched to using a silk or satin pillowcase, which significantly reduced frizz and hair breakage caused by friction during sleep. Lastly, staying well-hydrated daily supports hair health by keeping hair strands hydrated and less prone to brittleness. Combining these simple steps has made a noticeable difference not only in preventing hair loss but also in achieving fuller, thicker hair over time.
