The more I’ve simplified and more I’ve let go, the more I’ve realized that there was TOO much on my plate. Not only the physical (I think that was truly just the symptom of the problem) but also the mental load. It made me realize that I was hitting more than I could chew.

I’ve learned that I can do it all, but not all at once and that was something I had to come to terms with.

That constant hum of noise, demands, and endless to-do lists can leave you feeling completely 'on edge' and 'overwhelmed'. I've been there, staring at a mountain of laundry while trying to answer a toddler's millionth question, feeling my brain just… short-circuit. It's truly exhausting, and often, we don't even realize how much of a toll it's taking on our mental and physical health. For me, it wasn't just the physical clutter in our home, though 'decluttering my life, home, + calendar' was a huge step. It was also the invisible 'mental load' – constantly planning, remembering, anticipating, and worrying. We try to 'do it all' because we think we have to, but that just leads to feeling like we're constantly hitting more than we can chew. I learned that I could do it all, but not all at once, and that realization was a game-changer. One of the biggest shifts for me was realizing I needed to 'simplify my life' – not just my physical space, but my schedule and expectations too. I started with small, manageable steps, because, let's be honest, who has hours as a mom? Even just 5 or 15 minutes a day dedicated to one small task can make a world of difference. Maybe it's putting away five items, planning one meal, unsubscribing from unnecessary emails, or tackling one small area of your home. These tiny habits compounded over time to create significant change. When I talk about 'decluttering,' I mean more than just toys and clothes. It's also about 'decluttering my calendar.' Saying no to commitments that don't serve my family or my peace has been revolutionary. It allowed me to 'slow down' and create much-needed 'margin' in our days. This isn't about being unproductive; it's about being intentional. It's about choosing quality over quantity, both in activities and possessions, to create a more 'simplified' and intentional living space and schedule. The most profound change I experienced was gaining 'more mental capacity' and 'bandwidth to deal and cope with the overstimulation.' Before, every minor hiccup felt like a major crisis. Now, with less clutter and a calmer schedule, I have the mental space to breathe, to problem-solve, and even to enjoy the little moments. It's like my brain finally has room to process things without constantly being in overdrive. This allows for 'piece in the chaos and home,' which is something every mom truly deserves. If you're feeling 'overwhelmed' and constantly 'on edge,' know that you're not alone, and it is possible to change. Start small, be kind to yourself, and remember that 'less is more' often leads to a richer, more fulfilling mom life. This isn't about perfection; it's about finding your rhythm and creating a home environment where you and your family can thrive without constant overstimulation. You deserve to feel calm and in control – you've got this!
