This is not rotting

I know “rotting” is a new trend in self care and although I agree it’s important I hate the term “rotting”

I’m not rotting, I’m existing outside of the constant demand for productivity. I’m watching my favorite nostalgic show, playing a low stakes, low tension game and snacking on a salty crunchy treat because Im a little hungry.

Sometimes self care is reading self help books, building new habits, managing money, getting exercise, eating healthy, journaling, etc. sometimes it means sitting in bed at 630 with a good show and a snack.

Personally, I have been awake since 630 am, I cleaned, I crafted, I read, I worked, I walked the dog, I wrote…12 hours later I choose to sit down with my favorite blanket and my switch and allow myself the luxury of mindlessness.

For me “rot” is synonymous with “lazy”. It’s a personal thing, but I have to reframe my brain and say I’m not “rotting” I’m “resting” and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
