HOW TO STRUCTURE YOUR LEG DAYS!

If you’re wanting to build a “shelf” or booty you need to make sure you’re prioritizing the correct exercises. Here are a few examples of exercises that will target either more of your lower or upper glutes.

Upper Glutes:

-Hip thrusts

-KAS Glute bridges

-45 degree hip extensions

Lower Glutes

-RDL’s

-Squats

-Good mornings

-Lunges

I would recommend doing 1-2 of each along with a single leg movement for stability/balance.

That should be your entire leg workout.

You don’t need to be doing 7,8,9 exercises per workout.

Focus on intensity on 1-2 of each along with a single leg movement and that should be more than enough!

... Read moreHey Lemon8 fam! So many of you asked for more details on building a strong, sculpted booty, and I'm here to spill my secrets. My previous post gave you a glimpse, but let's dive deeper into making every leg day count for those glutes! Beyond just picking exercises, how you put them together makes all the difference. My go-to strategy involves starting with a compound movement for heavy lifting, then hitting isolation exercises, and finally incorporating stability work. This ensures maximum muscle activation and growth. Don't forget a dynamic warm-up to prep your body and a good cool-down to aid recovery! For sets and reps, I typically aim for 3-4 sets of 8-12 reps for strength and hypertrophy. If I'm really pushing intensity, I might drop the reps and increase the weight, always focusing on perfect form. Let's talk about those power moves for your glutes. For upper glutes, the barbell hip thrust is king! It's all about that hip extension at the top, squeezing your glutes hard. Imagine pushing your hips towards the ceiling, driving through your heels. Don't just lift; thrust with purpose! Another gem is the 45-degree hip extension. This one is fantastic for targeting the very top of your glutes, giving you that rounded look. Make sure you're extending fully and feeling that deep contraction. Now for the lower glutes, my absolute favorite has to be the dumbbell Romanian Deadlift (RDL). It’s not just a hamstring exercise; when done correctly, it deeply engages your lower glutes, especially at the bottom of the movement as you feel that stretch. Keep a slight bend in your knees, hinge *at your hips*, and focus on pushing your hips back as if you're trying to touch a wall behind you. Squats and lunges are also phenomenal, but remember to go deep enough to really feel it in your glutes, not just your quads. The original post mentioned single-leg movements, and they are non-negotiable for me! Exercises like Bulgarian split squats, single-leg RDLs, or even simple step-ups are incredible for improving balance, stability, and fixing any muscle imbalances between your left and right sides. I often include one as my last major compound movement, or as an accessory exercise to really burn out those glutes. Finally, that 'intensity' I talked about? It’s not just about lifting heavy. It's about mind-muscle connection, controlled eccentrics (the lowering phase), and progressive overload. Are you trying to add a little more weight, one more rep, or improve your form each week? That's how real growth happens. Remember, quality over quantity always! So there you have it – my expanded guide to structuring your leg days for maximum glute gains. These tips have transformed my own workouts, and I'm confident they'll help you too. Keep pushing, keep learning, and let me know your favorite glute-sculpting moves in the comments!
