Healthy substitute CRUNCHWRAP SUPREME high protein

I love Taco Bell and specifically their Crunchwrap supreme but it comes with 540 calories, high in fat and not the best quality of foods, so I decided to make my own substitute. I wanted to make sure it had enough protein to make a balanced meal and I’ve perfected it to the point I’m excited to show you the recipe I’ve been eating almost everyday for dinner for the last few weeks..

I chose Ground turkey for my protein but you can also use ground chicken for an even lower fat meal or ground beef if you’d like! Tastes great with any of the above just season it with taco seasoning prior.

The original Crunchwrap Supreme can easily hit 540 calories with a significant amount of saturated fat, which isn't ideal for an everyday meal. My version, as you saw, comes in around 450 calories, but with a much higher protein content and better-for-you ingredients. So, how do we achieve this magic? It all starts with smart swaps. For the protein, I swear by ground turkey. It’s lean, versatile, and absorbs seasoning beautifully. If you want to go even lighter, ground chicken works wonders too. Just make sure to season it well with your favorite taco seasoning – that's where the flavor really comes alive! Now, let's talk about the layers, because that's what makes a Crunchwrap so special. You'll need those large flour tortillas as your base. Instead of a heavy cheese sauce, I love spreading a thin layer of light chipotle sauce for a smoky kick. Then comes your perfectly seasoned ground meat. The secret to that iconic crunch? A corn tostada right in the middle! It’s essential for texture. On top of the tostada, I layer on some low-fat sour cream – or even Greek yogurt for an extra protein boost and tang – instead of the traditional high-fat sour cream. Then, a generous handful of crisp shredded lettuce and fresh diced tomatoes brings freshness and essential vitamins. To seal everything up neatly, I use a small tortilla piece in the center before folding the large tortilla inwards. This 'folded tortilla wrap' technique is crucial for keeping everything contained.
