Homemade Greek Yogurt Bagels: Cinnamon Raisin, Brown Sugar & Cinnamon, and Everything Seed
Makes: 6 bagels (2 of each flavor)
Ingredients:
Base Dough:
2 cups self-rising flour (plus extra for dusting)
1 ½ cups plain Greek yogurt (full-fat or 2%)
1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
Cinnamon Raisin Mix:
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
⅓ cup raisins
Brown Sugar & Cinnamon Mix:
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
Everything Bagel Topping:
1 tbsp everything bagel seasoning (or a mix of sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried garlic, dried onion, and salt)
Egg Wash:
1 egg
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
Make the Base Dough:
In a large bowl, mix the self-rising flour, Greek yogurt, and vanilla extract until a shaggy dough forms. Turn out the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently until it’s smooth and slightly sticky (about 1-2 minutes).
Divide the Dough into Flavors:
Split the dough into three equal portions for the flavors.
For Cinnamon Raisin Bagels:
Add the raisins, brown sugar, and cinnamon to one portion. Knead gently to distribute the ingredients evenly.
For Brown Sugar & Cinnamon Bagels:
Knead the brown sugar and cinnamon into the second portion. Adjust with a little flour if it becomes too sticky.
For Everything Seed Bagels:
Leave the third portion plain for topping later.
Shape the Bagels:
Divide each flavored dough into 2 equal pieces.
Roll each piece into a ball, then poke a hole in the center with your finger. Stretch the hole slightly to form a bagel shape.
Add the Toppings:
Place the bagels on the prepared baking sheet. Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it over all the bagels.
Sprinkle everything bagel seasoning on the plain bagels. For extra cinnamon flavor, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon sugar on the Brown Sugar & Cinnamon Bagels.
Bake the Bagels:
Bake for 20-22 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Cool and Serve:
Let the bagels cool for a few minutes before serving. They’re delicious as-is or toasted with cream cheese, butter, or your favorite spread.
