Baby milestones 0-3 months

As a new parent, tracking your baby's development during the first three months can feel both exciting and overwhelming. Sleep cues often include yawning, eye-rubbing, and decreased activity. Recognizing signs of discomfort, like arching the back or facial grimacing, helps caregivers address issues like gas or overstimulation. I found that practicing tummy time daily not only strengthens my baby's neck and upper body muscles but also boosts social development, as they start responding to smiles and cooing sounds. At around 6 to 8 weeks, babies begin social smiling, which is a major milestone showing emotional engagement. It's also important to understand overstimulation in infants—when your baby turns their head away, stiffens their body, or cries suddenly, it’s often their way of signaling they need a break. Respecting these cues by offering a calm environment helps them self-regulate and feel secure. By paying close attention to these subtle signals and supporting your baby's emerging abilities, you create a nurturing environment that promotes optimal development. Remember, each baby is unique, and milestones can vary, so keep a flexible and intuitive approach while cherishing each new achievement.
