Hi! This is my glp1 experience if you’re on wegovy or similar and want something relatable or just want to hear someone’s story!
I’ve said before, I tried to get this medication for 3 years and I was denied until I struggled with inflammation and other issues from fatty liver and obesity stage 1. For reference I am 5’2 and I weighed 180-182 at my heaviest. I was never a curvier person growing up but I struggled with depression and anxiety and I stopped caring about how I took care of myself. Long story short I finally got on a plan for wegovy through Baylor and I’ve had a team helping through my diet and watching me to make sure I’m healthy through the process! I have lost 50lbs since October so that’s exactly 5.5 months.
My deficit and plan was strict and definitely not safe for anyone not under medical watch. Now that I am at my goal, we are working with a maintenance dose until may and then we will go from there but I have to say I feel better, I look better, even my mental health is better AND I bought like 4 bikinis for the pool this summer! On maintenance, I am working to build up muscle since I lost a lot. I’ve been doing Pilates and resistance bands almost everyday.
My goals and wants/needs for my personal health and appearance are not aligned with anyone else’s so this is not a post to encourage or tell anyone they’re unhealthy. This was all my own experience and if you want to chat about it, feel free to ask away.

Being under close medical supervision was crucial, as the medication and strict calorie deficit require careful monitoring to avoid health risks. One important lesson I learned early on is that patience and consistency matter more than quick fixes. Despite losing 50 pounds in just over five months, taking the time to adjust dosage and diet as my body responded helped me avoid setbacks.
Mental health improvements went hand-in-hand with my physical transformation. Before starting, depression and anxiety had dampened my motivation and self-care. Weight loss gave me a renewed sense of confidence and energy, encouraging me to engage in activities I once avoided, like purchasing summer bikinis! Incorporating Pilates and resistance band workouts has been an effective way for me to rebuild muscle strength lost during weight loss while maintaining joint health.
I also emphasize that every individual's health goals are unique. What worked for me may not suit others, so finding a personalized approach is key. For anyone considering GLP-1 medications like Wegovy, I recommend having a supportive healthcare team to guide you through dietary plans and monitor your progress safely. Sharing experiences with others on similar journeys can be invaluable, so don't hesitate to reach out and exchange tips.
Finally, transitioning to a maintenance phase requires thoughtful adjustments to prevent rebound weight gain. For me, this meant easing the calorie deficit and focusing more on physical activity to preserve muscle mass. This balanced strategy supports long-term success and improved overall wellbeing. If you are curious about GLP-1 treatments or weight loss maintenance strategies, I'm happy to share more insights based on my experience.
